A page-turning read for a lazy fall weekend. Lizzie has recently made a career change from happy federal prosecutor to grueling hours at an elite law firm. Not her choice, but her husband Sam’s drinking problem & money issues forced her to take the better paying job. Out of the blue, Lizzie gets a call from an old law school friend, Zach who is at Rikers and needs her help proving that he didn’t kill his wife Amanda.
Zach and Amanda were new comers to the Park Slope section of Brooklyn. Amanda tries to find her place in the close group of parents at her son’s private school. Each family has their own secrets. As Lizzie tries to help Zach, she uncovers more mysteries of the Park Slope neighborhood. Each marriage isn’t exactly what it seems to be and Lizzie finds herself questioning her own marriage, too.
Lots of twists & turns in this thriller mystery. I found myself rooting for Lizzie and Amanda (even though I know she ends up dead) to realize how dangers secrets can be in a marriage.
